Animal Abuse at A Famosa

HIGHLIGHTS

0:42 - the handler kneed the tiger on the head
0:50 - the handler pinch the nose of the tiger
1:05 - the handler pull the tiger by the whiskers

Watch this video and please be disgusted on how A'Famosa Resort Melaka treat their tiger. I don't usually post khidmat masyarakat thingies here but this one is an exception. Just look at how severely sedated the tiger is!

According to the visitor who took the picture below, the tiger was kept on the pedestal for 6 hours a day. It was permanently chained by the neck to the pedestal at all times. I dunno about you but this is not only inhumane but pose a danger to the visitors. Tigers are solitary animal and don't like being crowded. What would happen if the tiger attacked the visitor then? Will A'Famosa be liable?

Now, this has caused quite a stir among animal activists here in Malaysia, and it's slowly creeping its way internationally too (YAY!). What any regular human being with half a brain sees is a heavily drugged tiger getting its slapped around, having its whiskers pulled and treated in an overall careless manner just for people to stupidly step up, pay RM 15 and have their picture taken with a half-dead tiger. But when the officials of A-Famosa were questioned about this, they responded with what can possibly be described as the dumbest, most intellectually-challenged response ever.
"The tiger is just lazy..." More specifically, here's the entire e-mail response given by a certain Eric Ong who's from Marketing at A-Famosa.

(This e-mail was sent to "DewGem" whose real identity I'm not sure of, but all I can say is I truly value his/her taking concern in this matter and taking the trouble to send an e-mail to Eric. My e-mail was a little more harsh, so no response expected from Eric there.)

HAHAHA! Their nature to do so? Mister Eric here has obviously not subscribed to Animal Planet, or this certain attribute called "common sense" for that matter.

This is how animals would normally react when people inflict pain on them. No matter how"lazy" they will surely retaliate. You want us to believe that the tiger was not sedated Eric? Check out around 0:50 second in the original video. The handler pinch the nose of the tiger for no reason. Now as a cat lover I also know that THE NOSE is bloody sensitive to a cat. When you touch the nose or play with it the cat will react. It's a known fact that for bears, cats, dogs and wolfs, the nose is a very sensitive organ. If you are attacked by these animal, you should aim for the nose to make them stop attacking you. Punching the nose is like kicking a guy in the nuts. Their nose have so many nerve endings that it is sensitive to touch. No way that an sedated tiger would buat bodo when someone pinched it like that. This makes Eric's excuse that the tiger is not drugged but lazy laughable!!

Do you think Malaysian are that stupid ah? We all now have
ASTRO and Animal Planetmah. Some have HD summore so we know when tiger is lazy or drugged lah! We now know more about animal than you liao.

Bugger. If only they admit their guilt maybe the
blogosphere won't be this pissed off. Now that they invent silly excuses it is up to bloggers like me and TEH MOOSE to spread the word. You guys should too. Copy pasta this video and spread it like H1N1 and AIDS. A'Famosa must be closed because of AIDS!!

We want justice for the tiger. We want the handler to be prosecuted by pihak berwajib for treating the animal in a very cruel manner. A'Famosa must also be held accountable for the blatant exploitation of animal within it's compound! Please spread the word to all your friends regarding this.

Save the tiger, safe the world.
